There is no denying that a watch’s desirability can partially be traced to seeing style icons and other celebrities sporting the piece. In the case of the Ventura, with icons like Elvis Presley, Will Smith, and Chris Hemsworth, it is no wonder that people still call it the Elvis or MIB watch. When thinking about classic timepieces from storied brands, most people’s minds go to the usual suspects: Rolex with the Submariner, Omega with the Speedmaster, Breitling with the Navitimer, etc. The Hamilton Ventura deserves to be thrown into that group, not only because of its technological innovations that helped propel the brand to star power in the 60’s, but also because of the timepiece’s cultural significance being adorned in many fan favorite films by some of the most popular actors of their times. We have most likely not seen the last of the Ventura on the silver screen and it’s anyone’s guess as to which superstar will get to sport the icon next.
